Greetings & welcome, friends.

A few words about me and this site...

I have had a long love affair with the fine art of Photography; a passion rekindled with the advent of digital photography and the 'computer-darkroom'. I live and work in one of the world’s most photogenic areas; the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Here nature seems ready for a photo session any time, so my recent focus has been the untamed beauty of this magnificent setting as well as its gleaming man-made cityscapes -- monuments to the epic settlement of my home region.

The March full moon, known to Northern Indian tribes as the "Crow Moon" seems nestled in barren branches of late Winter. Thin cloud bands form a wispy frame for the colorful scene.

Highbush Cranberry ('Vibunum' family). These Spring wildflowers of the cool & moist Pacific Northwest woods, bloom in an interesting pattern reminiscent of a white crown. (You can also see this photo at: http://tinyurl.com/n37fm)

It is only a metaphor but an optical illusion can make it look like these two friedns can literally reach for the moon and actually succeed. High cliffs near the Painted Hills of Central Oregon provide the backdrop.

Seen arriving at the mouth of the Columbia river gorge, is the Lady Washington; a 1989 reproduction of a 90 ton trading vessel built in Massachussets. Sails are folded as she floats downstream, revealing the tall masts and intricate rope work. This vessell has starred in several Hollywood productions, famously as the HMS Interceptor in Pirates of the Caribbean, the Curse of the Black Pearl.

On a stormy day in late March, Beacon Rock beams in the morning light, playing hide-and-go-seek with the passing clouds , in Southwestern Washington State (Columbia River Gorge).

A magnificent specimen, a bull Roosevelt Elk, enjoying an afternoon snack in his native habitat, the coastal range of Souther Oregon. He seemed suprised to see a photographer at this close range

A pink-yellow Tulip basks in the admiration of a chorus of variegated Iris stalks. (You can also see this photo at:http://tinyurl.com/gjvaq)

Wild onions, like this specimen, seem to like the sun and soil and mixed grass goundcover in Oregon's high desert, in the Spring.

A mature Trillium blooms in the heavily forested Oregon slopes of the Columbia River Gorge. (You can also see this photo at: http://tinyurl.com/j8vxc)

As the day draws to a close, near the end of another Spring wildflower season, the Balsamroot on Dog Mountain sway in the winds of the Columbia river gorge. Indian Paintbrush, still in its prime, frames the scene and offers a counterpoint to the setting sun.
